EQUIPMENT VALUE

HYFA provides the best equipment possible. We make safety a priority, and do not cut corners on ensuring our equipment meets excellent standards. 

Our helmets and shoulder pads are professionally cleaned and refurbished after each season. Helmets are retired after 5 years (half the time of the state requirement) to ensure optimal safety. 

We replenish 20% of our equipment stock after each season to ensure quality fitting options for each player.

This is all made possible through our sponsorships, fundraising, and hard work of our HYFA Board. 

ISSUED EQUIPMENT

Handout/Return Location: Hilhi Football Shed (located on the back left side of Hillsboro HS)

ITEMS NEEDED

Parents will be responsible to provide: 

  • Undergarments - white short/long sleeve shirts for game days
  • Cleats (No Metal Cleats)
  • Optional Equipment such as gloves, arm pads, additional mouth guards and clear face shields
  • If you choose to get a different chin strap than the one provided, it needs to be the same brand as your issued helmet.

Equipment Agreement

Participants are responsible for the care and cleaning of the issued equipment. Failure to return the equipment promptly at the end of the season will incur reconditioning fees and if it is not returned you will be charged for the full replacement costs of this equipment, which is valued at the amount below. You are required to return the equipment cleaned; HYFA will bill $50 for equipment that is not returned clean, and this includes the bag, shoulder pads and helmet. The equipment is the sole property of Hilhi Youth Football Association and to be used for Hilhi Youth Football Association activities only. Equipment returned after November 16, 2024 will incur a late fee of $25. Parents will be responsible to provide undergarments, turf shoes and optional equipment such as gloves, arm pads and clear face shields.

GEAR SIZING: We ask that you have your athlete try on ALL of his/her equipment as soon as you get home. If we issued an incorrect size, just stop by on the next equipment handout date and we will exchange it for you. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL CAMP TO TRY EVERYTHING ON. We often run out of sizes and have to order them, which can take a few days. If we discover an item doesn’t fit the week of the 1st game, your player may miss a game or two waiting for new gear to arrive.

HELMETS: Helmets are fitted by the equipment staff and are sized for the safety of the player. We do our best to insure a correct fit based on safety factors. We cannot honor requests to upsize helmets unless the fit is appropriate and safe. 1st time players often find the helmets to be heavy, uncomfortable and difficult to remove without causing pain to the ears. If this is the case, remove the cheek pad prior to removing the helmet, and remove the helmet by placing hands in the ear holes and pulling the shell apart to create more room for removal. Generally, after the players perspire in the helmets they are easily removed. Many of our helmets have air adjustable bladders that your coach can adjust for you. If the helmet is still uncomfortable at the completion of the camp, we will arrange to have it swapped for another size or brand.

GAME JERSEYS: Game jerseys are the property of Hilhi Youth Football Association and will be issued and collected for the season. Game jerseys must not be worn for practice (the player will be asked to sit out unless they have another jersey they can wear for practice), you cannot add the players name to the back of the jersey and you must follow the washing instructions provided on the labels. As a representative of Hilhi Youth Football, the athlete may wear his/her jersey to school on the Friday before game days and to the Hilhi Varsity football games. Please remember: this jersey will be issued to another athlete next season, return your jersey in the condition you would like to receive it.

GAME DAY UNIFORM: Players are expected to wear the proper uniform to games. This includes game pants, game jersey, game socks, helmet, shoulder pads and cleats. If you are wearing a long sleeve undershirt, the sleeves must be white. If you are not in proper uniform you will not play in the game.
